• 2 i. Almerine² Marshall was born in Ohio. He married Mathena Hicks in Bound County, Illinois, September 16, 1841. Mathena was the daughter of --?-- Hicks.

Second Generation

3. Jacob² Marshall (Almerine¹) was born in Ohio about 1822. Jacob died about 1855 in Missouri.

He married Sarah Hicks in Bound County, Illinois, January 15, 1844.⁽¹⁾ Sarah was born in Illinois about 1827. Sarah was the daughter of --?-- Hicks. Sarah died about 1888 in the Indian Territory.⁽²⁾ Family stories say that Sarah's son-in-law, Francis Hatfield, came to the Indian Nation in the late 1880's to work for a resident Indian, working with horses on his land. In order to do this, Francis had to apply for an Intruder's Permit. Sarah and her son, John Pewitt, came with them. Sarah died there before 1890, when the family moved on to the Oklahoma Territory.

Jacob Marshall and Sarah Hicks had the following family:

Third Generation

7. Almerine³ Marshall (Jacob², Almerine¹) was born in Missouri November 9, 1846.⁽⁵⁾ Almerine died April 8, 1877 in Arkansas, at 30 years of age.⁽⁶⁾ He may have died in Franklin County Arkansas. His body was interred in Fort Smith, Sebastian County, Arkansas.

He married Malinda Pierce in Howell County, Missouri, February 21, 1869.⁽⁷⁾ Malinda was born in Alexander County, Illinois February 26, 1851.⁽⁸⁾ The date on her death certificate by a son-in-law contradicts this date. But this date agrees with census enumerations and is given by her son. Malinda was the daughter of John Pierce and Louisa A. Jones.

Malinda died February 25, 1936 in Van Zandt County, Texas, at 84 years of age.⁽⁹⁾ Malinda died from bronchopneumonia complicated by cardiac decompensation. Her body was interred February 26, 1936 in Smith County, Texas, at Providence Cemetery.⁽¹⁰⁾ Malinda's grave is unmarked.

Almerine Marshall and Malinda Pierce had the following family:

• 13 i. John Franklin⁴ Marshall was born in Arkansas June 25, 1870.⁽¹¹⁾ John died August 13, 1903 in Van Zandt County, Texas, at 33 years of age.⁽¹²⁾ His body was interred in Grand Saline, Van Zandt County, Texas.

She married Dudley D. Hunter in Howell County, Missouri, June 25, 1872. Dudley was born in Tennessee about 1854.

9. Elizabeth³ Marshall (Jacob², Almerine¹) was born in Missouri March 7, 1850. Betsy died May 4, 1904 in Fulton County, Arkansas, at 54 years of age. Her body was interred in Salem, Fulton County, Arkansas, at Salem Cemetery.

She married Henry L. Brewington in Howell County, Missouri, February 21, 1869.⁽¹³⁾ Henry was born in Tennessee August 1850. Henry died after 1900.

10. Rebecca Anna³ Marshall (Jacob², Almerine¹) was born in Howell County, Missouri January 31, 1853.⁽¹⁴⁾ Rebecca died November 3, 1934 in Lockridge, Logan County, Oklahoma, at 81 years of age.⁽¹⁵⁾

Her body was interred in Cashion, Kingfisher County, Oklahoma, at Cashion Cemetery.⁽¹⁶⁾

She married Francis Marion Hatfield in Howell County, Missouri, April 6, 1872.⁽¹⁷⁾ Francis was born in Missouri March 1847. Francis died January 15, 1935 in Guthrie, Logan County, Oklahoma, at 87 years of age.

His body was interred January 16, 1935 in Cashion, Kingfisher County, Oklahoma, at Cashion Cemetery.

Rebecca Anna Marshall and Francis Marion Hatfield had the following family:

Fourth Generation

14. James Hardin Levi⁴ Marshall (Almerine³, Jacob², Almerine¹) was born in Stringtown, Arkansas May 15, 1873.⁽¹⁸⁾ James died October 15, 1941 in Wichita Falls, Wichita County, Texas, at 68 years of age.⁽¹⁹⁾ He died from injuries suffered in an automobile accident. His body was interred October 16, 1941 in Wichita Falls, Wichita County, Texas, at Riverside Cemetery.⁽²⁰⁾ The interment was under the direction of Owens and Brumley Funeral Home. He is grave is space 212, Block Z.

He married twice. He married Jessie P. Thomas August 3, 1899.⁽²¹⁾ Jessie was born in Texas January 16, 1884.⁽²²⁾

He married Martha Eula Goolsby in Poletown, Van Zandt County, Texas, November 22, 1905.⁽²³⁾ They were married by D.D. Richardson, Minister of the Gospel. Poletown is now part of Grand Saline. Eula was born in Whitesboro, Grayson County, Texas April 1, 1891.⁽²⁴⁾ Eula was the daughter of Jeremiah Marr Goolsby and Mary Margret Turner. Eula died January 5, 1974 in Wichita Falls, Wichita County, Texas, at 82 years of age. Her body was interred in Wichita Falls, Wichita County, Texas, at Crestview Memorial Park.

James Hardin Levi Marshall and Jessie P. Thomas had the following family:

• 33 i. Charlie G.⁵ Marshall was born in Van Zandt County, Texas August 9, 1900.⁽²⁵⁾ Charlie died September 9, 1904 in Oklahoma, at 4 years of age.⁽²⁶⁾ His body was interred in Marshall County, Oklahoma, at New Isom Springs Cemetery.⁽²⁷⁾ Charlie was originally buried in Isom Springs Cemetery. This cemetery had to be relocated for the contruction of Lake Texoma in 1942. On August 11, 1942, his grave, identified as Grave No. 114, was moved to New Isom Springs Cemetery. According to correspondence between Levi Marshall and the U.S. Engineer Office, the grave is marked.

James Hardin Levi Marshall and Martha Eula Goolsby had the following family:

• 34 ii. Ruby Millie Marshall was born in Van Zandt County, Texas August 27, 1906.⁽²⁸⁾ She was born in her parents home, between Grand Saline and Silver Lake Community. Ruby died March 15, 1987 in Wichita Falls, Wichita County, Texas, at 80 years of age. Her body was interred in Wichita Falls, Wichita County, Texas, at Crestview Memorial Park. She married twice. She married Jesse Lee Flowers in Wichita Falls, Wichita County, Texas, July 24, 1924.⁽²⁹⁾ Jesse was born in Ninnekah, Grady County, Oklahoma February 1, 1903. Jesse was the son of James Wesley Flowers and Cassa Odelia Howard. Jesse died December 8, 1957 in Wichita Falls, Wichita County, Texas, at 54 years of age.

  Jesse L. Flowers, 55, 2702 Colquitt, suffered a heart attack early Sunday morning and was dead on arrival at Wichita General Hospital.

  Born Feb. 1 1903 in Ninnekah, Okla, Flowers lived in Wichita Falls since 1920. He was a guard at Panhandle Refinery and a street car motorman during the 1920's.

  Funeral arrangements, under the direction of Hampton Vaughn Merkle Funeral Home are incomplete.

  He was a member of the Faith Village Church of Christ.

  Survivors include his widow, Mrs Ruby Flowers, Wichita Falls; a daughter, Mrs. Virginia Judson, Phoenix, Az; a son, Gayland D. Flowers, W.F.; three brothers, Charlie Flowers, Quanah; Horace Flowers, Lubbock; Jim Flowers, Pleasanton; a sister, Mrs. Neoma Yancy, WF.

  She married Wallace Condor Carr in Wichita Falls, Wichita County, Texas, September 5, 1972. Wallace was born September 11, 1906. Wallace was the son of Robert C. Carr and Belle B. --?--. Wallace died September 16, 1977 in Wichita Falls, Wichita County, Texas, at 71 years of age.

• 35 iii. Bessie Irene Marshall was born in Silver Lake Community, Van Zandt County, Texas August 30, 1908.⁽³⁰⁾ Bessie died November 23, 2000 in Wichita Falls, Wichita County, Texas, at 92 years of age. She passed away on Thanksgiving morning. Her brother passed away about 5 hours later in California. Her body was interred November 25, 2000 in Wichita Falls, Wichita County, Texas, at Crestview Memorial Park. She married Charlie M. Young in Wichita Falls, Wichita County, Texas, August 31, 1924.⁽³¹⁾ They were married in Bessie's parent's home by a justice of the peace. When Charlie got married, his father told him he was going to marry out, not in, meaning they weren't going to set up home in his house!

  Charlie was born in Jack County, Texas November 8, 1903. Charlie was the son of John Hampton Young and Lillie Jarvis. Charlie died May 25, 1992 in Wichita Falls, Wichita County, Texas, at 88 years of age. His body was interred May 28, 1992 in Wichita Falls, Wichita County, Texas, at Crestview Memorial Park.

• 36 iv. Aubrey Farris Marshall was born in Wichita Falls, Wichita County, Texas September 2, 1910.⁽³²⁾ Aubrey died November 23, 2000 in Long Beach, Los Angeles County, California, at 90 years of age. He passed away about 5 hours after his sister, Bessie. He married Vera Nell Richmond in Wichita Falls, Wichita County, Texas, May 1, 1932.⁽³³⁾

  Vera was born in Texas May 6, 1915. Vera is the daughter of Ben H. Richmond and Mattie --?--.

• 37 v. Malinda Ada Marshall was born in Wichita Falls, Wichita County, Texas November 2, 1912.⁽³⁴⁾ Malinda died July 9, 2000 in Wichita Falls, Wichita County, Texas, at 87 years of age. Her body was interred July 18, 2000 in Wichita Falls, Wichita County, Texas, at Crestview Memorial Park.

  She married Zearl Gilbreath in Grandfield, Tillman County, Oklahoma, December 28, 1931.⁽³⁵⁾ Zearl was born in Mangum, Greer County, Oklahoma April 10, 1909. Zearl was the son of Bluford Belmont Gilbreath and Abigail Gertrude Veach. Zearl died April 28, 1984 in Wichita Falls, Wichita County, Texas, at 75 years of age. His body was interred in Wichita Falls, Wichita County, Texas, at Crestview Memorial Park.

15. Lewis Harper⁴ Marshall (Almerine³, Jacob², Almerine¹) was born in Franklin County, Arkansas April 8, 1875.⁽³⁶⁾ Lewis died July 4, 1940 in Van Zandt County, Texas, at 65 years of age.⁽³⁷⁾ He died from a heart attack while plowing his fields. According to a family story, his wife Fannie looked out the kitchen window and saw him collapsed in the field and told their soon Uly to go and check on him for she thought he was dead. His body was interred in Smith County, Texas, at Providence Cemetery.⁽³⁸⁾

He married Mary Frances Williams in Van Zandt County, Texas, April 5, 1903. Luke and Fannie had 10 children. Only six survived to adulthood.

Fanny was born in Van Zandt County, Texas March 1888. Fanny died December 1944 at 56 years of age. Her body was interred in Smith County, Texas, at Providence Cemetery.⁽³⁹⁾

Lewis Harper Marshall and Mary Frances Williams had the following family:

• 38 i. Frank⁵ Marshall was born in Van Zandt County, Texas 1904. He lived only 1-1/2 years. Frank died 1906 in Van Zandt County, Texas, at 2 years of age.

• 39 ii. Uly Marshall was born in Van Zandt County, Texas April 8, 1905.⁽⁴⁰⁾ Buck died May 23, 1961 in Dallas County, Texas, at 56 years of age.⁽⁴¹⁾ His body was interred in Smith County, Texas, at Providence Cemetery.⁽⁴²⁾ He married Opal Waits in Van Zandt County, Texas, November 4, 1923. Opal was born in Garden Valley, Smith County, Texas January 30, 1907.⁽⁴³⁾ Opal died May 24, 1994 in Grand Saline, Van Zandt County, Texas, at 87 years of age.⁽⁴⁴⁾ She owned and operated The City Cafe in Grand Saline and was a member of the Church of Christ. Her body was interred May 25, 1994 in Van Zandt County, Texas, at Woodside Cemetery.⁽⁴⁵⁾

• 40 iii. Alvin Marshall was born in Texas December 11, 1908. Alvin died November 1982 in Reading, Berks County, Pennsylvania, at 73 years of age. His body was interred in Pennsylvania. He married Ann --?--.

• 41 iv. Abraham Raymond Marshall was born in Van Zandt County, Texas June 30, 1914.⁽⁴⁶⁾ Tabe died June 24, 1974 at 59 years of age.⁽⁴⁷⁾ His body was interred in Smith County, Texas, at Providence Cemetery.⁽⁴⁸⁾ He married Eliza Lorene Neil.

• 42 v. Henry Lee Marshall was born 1917. His body was interred in Dallas, Dallas County, Texas. He married Christine Unkown. Henry and Christine had no children.

• 43 vi. Margaret Ann Marshall was born October 2, 1920. Margaret died December 1, 1984 in Dallas County, Texas, at 64 years of age. Her body was interred. One family group sheet suggests she is buried in Providence Cemetery, but it is not confirmed. She married Glenn Andrew McClellan.

• 44 vii. Duard Harmon Marshall was born in Van Zandt County, Texas March 27, 1926.⁽⁴⁹⁾ Duard died June 5, 1977 in Van Zandt County, Texas, at 51 years of age.⁽⁵⁰⁾ His body was interred in Smith County, Texas, at Providence Cemetery.⁽⁵¹⁾

16. Sarah Louisa Josephine⁴ Marshall (Almerine³, Jacob², Almerine¹) was born in Arkansas October 17, 1876.⁽⁵²⁾ Josie died November 4, 1940 in Van Zandt County, Texas, at 64 years of age.⁽⁵³⁾ Her body was interred in Smith County, Texas, at Providence Cemetery.⁽⁵⁴⁾ Her grave is unmarked.

She married twice. She married Henry A. Prestidge in Van Zandt County, Texas, January 6, 1895.⁽⁵⁵⁾ Henry was born April 7, 1876.⁽⁵⁶⁾ Henry died January 5, 1902 in Van Zandt County, Texas, at 25 years of age.⁽⁵⁷⁾ His body was interred in Smith County, Texas, at Providence Cemetery.⁽⁵⁸⁾

She married William N. Adams in Van Zandt County, Texas, December 21, 1902.⁽⁵⁹⁾ William was born in Troy, Pike County, Alabama November 8, 1869.⁽⁶⁰⁾ William died December 28, 1953 in Van Zandt County, Texas, at 84 years of age.⁽⁶¹⁾ His body was interred in Smith County, Texas, at Providence Cemetery.⁽⁶²⁾

• 52 viii. William Austin Adams was born in Van Zandt County, Texas June 25, 1912.⁽⁸²⁾ Buster died May 1970 at 57 years of age. His body was interred in Van Zandt County, Texas, at Silver Lake Cemetery. He married Frances Beatrice Robinson. Frances was born 1917. Frances died 1997 at 80 years of age. Her body was interred in Van Zandt County, Texas, at Silver Lake Cemetery.

26. Marion Jefferson⁴ Brewington (Elizabeth³ Marshall, Jacob², Almerine¹) was born in Arkansas September 1889.

He married twice. He married Mattie Jane Golden in Arkansas, between 1910 and 1913. Mattie died between 1920 and 1930 in Oklahoma. He married Florence Mable Owens in Oklahoma, March 15, 1930. Florence was born in Ellis County, Texas September 27, 1895. Florence died January 15, 1973 in Garvin County, Oklahoma, at 77 years of age.

He married Willie Ector Weir McCullar in Ada, Pontotoc County, Oklahoma, December 12, 1946. Willie was born March 4, 1920. Willie is the daughter of James Edward McCullar and Jennie Ellen Ector Weir.

• 58 iii. Quentin Roosevelt Brewington was born in Oklahoma July 16, 1919. Quentin died February 21, 1992 in Citrus County, Florida, at 72 years of age. His body was interred July 25, 1941 in Bushnell, Sumter County, Florida, at Florida National Cemetery.

27. Luzania Bell⁴ Hatfield (Rebecca Anna³ Marshall, Jacob², Almerine¹) was born in Franklin County, Arkansas May 24, 1874. Luzania died June 8, 1961 in Guthrie, Logan County, Oklahoma, at 87 years of age. Her body was interred in Cashion, Kingfisher County, Oklahoma, at Cashion Cemetery.

She married twice. She married John Edgar Belveal. John was born 1866. John died 1943 at 77 years of age. His body was interred in Cashion, Kingfisher County, Oklahoma, at Cashion Cemetery. She married William Dodge Belveal in Logan County, Oklahoma Territory, February 15, 1891. William was born April 28, 1864.
